Footprints of Love

An LGBTQ+ Living Archive of Newham

Now National Lottery Heritage Funded

Stories Finally Being Told

Footprints of Love is a living, breathing archive of queer life in East London.

Led by Cameye Arts CIC, this major new project shines a light on the untold LGBTQ+ stories of Newham – through film, photography, walking tours, and performance. It’s about reclaiming space, honouring memory, and building joy-fuelled futures together.

From kitchen-table testimonies to late-night dancefloor memories, Footprints of Love is a love letter to the queer community of one of the UK’s most diverse boroughs.

💬 What We’re Creating

This isn’t just documentation. It’s co-creation.

Oral histories with LGBTQ+ elders, youth, activists and everyday icons

Immersive walking tours across queer Newham – past and present

Short films & visual portraits made in deep collaboration

Public events that feel more like celebrations than exhibitions

A digital living archive designed to evolve with the community

All developed with care, consent, and creativity at the core.

🏳️‍🌈 Why It Matters

Because queer history often goes undocumented.
Because Newham’s LGBTQ+ residents have shaped the borough in quiet and radical ways.
Because sharing stories makes us stronger.
Because love leaves footprints – and we’re here to follow them.

🤝 Join the Journey

This archive belongs to the community. We’re still collecting stories, faces and fragments.

Want to contribute? Participate in a walking tour? Host a pop-up?
Let’s connect.
