ABOUT US

Our Vision

Bold storytelling ignites bold change.

Stories that don’t just entertain – they connect, uplift and transform.

Our Mission

To amplify underrepresented voices and spark transformative change – through story.

We do this by:

  • Developing community-led creative projects in heritage, climate and culture.

  • Running participatory workshops that build confidence and skills.

  • Collaborating (selectively) with aligned organisations to share impact with heart.

We equip individuals and organisations with the tools, skills and confidence to tell their own stories – bridging divides, inspiring action and building resilience through creativity.

Our Roots (London ↔ Mozambique)

Cameye Arts began in East London – and the spirit of our practice was shaped earlier through self-initiated, ethnographic filmmaking in Mozambique – working with women, artists, communities and the natural world. Those experiences inform our method today: listening first, co-creating with care and conscious awareness, honouring lived experience.
You may notice archival footage from Mozambique in our showreel – this is the backstory. See the teaser on  Stories That Move.

Impact (snapshots)

We measure success in voice, connection, access and cultural memory. Highlights so far:

  • LGBTQ+ oral histories captured and shared – intergenerational stories recorded, edited and made publicly accessible through Footprints of Love and Newham Heritage Centre.

  • Community engagement through place-based storytelling – guided history walks/tours and conversations that make local queer heritage visible and relatable.

  • Accessible formats, wider reach – interviews and stories presented in non-traditional, more welcoming formats to lower barriers to participation.

  • Partnerships that strengthen community ecosystems – working with Newham Heritage partners and local organisations to co-host, contribute, and share stories.

  • Foundations for climate-action culture-making – CLIMACTION in development, building the creative networks and community relationships needed for a larger participatory programme.

Collaborations (by invitation)

Our main energy goes into our own projects, and each year we take on a small number of mission-aligned collaborations with community groups, charities, social enterprises and cultural partners. Typical outcomes: short films & community docs, impact/evaluation pieces, and participatory AV workshops.
