Our Story
From a youth zone in Stratford to a movement for impact-driven media.
Cameye Arts was founded by Ana de Matos, a queer filmmaker, visual anthropologist and passionate advocate for social change.
The idea was born in the heart of East London, while Ana was leading filmmaking workshops with young people at Stratford Youth Zone. She saw firsthand how storytelling – when nurtured with care and imagination – can unlock potential, heal trauma, and build connection.
That spark became Cameye Arts: a platform for empowerment, co-creation and community-rooted storytelling.
We officially launched in 2024 as a CIC based in Newham – a place that continues to shape our ethos and creative direction.
Today, we work across London (and beyond), bringing soul, skill and social conscience to every story we tell.
